*Facepalm*
It's just that tomorrow is a day off because we have elections in South Africa, so it has completely confused my brain when it comes to what day it is.
But let's have a little lighter, slightly humerous blog anyway.
Today I had an interesting article come across my desk at work. Before I tell you what the article was about - [which isn't relevant for this blog anyway]- I would Like to give you a few quotes from the article. I ask that you please read them AT FACE VALUE.
Please excuse the poor photo quality but I had to try sneak the photos at work, during an exceptionally busy day.
I am sure some of you are laughing hysterically whilst secretly wondering, "What on earth was she reading?!?!?!?!"
perhaps others of you are scratching your heads in pure confusion. Because if you read what i posted as it stands, it is strange, almost nonsensical and ....well possibly nuts. At face value it could appear that "art" can have strange effects or medical effects on a human body. [possibly this might be true - but its not really what the article was about].
It was actually an article from a medical journal about a hormone replacement therapy for men, which was abbreviated to ART. Of course my mischievous brain enjoyed finding all the things out of context and giggling about it...to which my boss sweetly smiled, whilst rolling her eyes. Kind of the same look she gives me when i giggle over the "pee pee monster".
But despite adding humour to my day, it is also a reminder of a life lesson or three. . .careful when others tell you stories or try involve you in situations. If you weren't there when it happened, then anything you hear is out of context. You will struggle to see the full picture or know the true events because its a bit like a photo that was out of focus. its one of the reasons gossip is so dangerous....well that and the fact that gossip is sin. . . keep it in context or leave it alone. its quite simple really. imagine how uncomplicated life would become if we lived like that?
With anything you are going through in life, good or bad, happy or sad, stressful or relaxing etc. Keep it in context of the bigger picture, keep bringing it back in light of God's will and plan for your life. Because out of context it make not make sense, and it might appear larger than life and overwhelm you. Out of context you might just see the part and loose sight of whole, which could include the goodness of God. . . always try bring it back into context. if you are struggling to do that, i trust that you have close friends by your side who can gently help remind you of the bigger picture.
When it comes to God's word . . . taking it out of context can be exceptionally dangerous and confusing. A good rule of thumb, if you are not sure, is to weigh it up in context of the whole picture. Now I don't mean to literally read every verse to try find the context. But look at what Gods original intent in Eden was, and what gets restored in Heaven and add to it what Jesus did on earth. with that you can gauge a good deal about God's heart and God's will and see the bigger picture behind the single verse, or hear God's heartbeat behind it.
So try keep it in context this week lest we all carry on believing that....
